America's Downward Spiral into the Abyss

FamilyPictures003-1.jpg picture by heh222

Going back to the year 1963, when the Supreme Court of the United States
ruled 8-1 that Government sponsored Bible reading and other religious
devotions in public schools was Unconstitutional. So for years since then
different factions of far left individuals and groups have sought to have prayer
removed from Graduation ceremonies, as well as other types of meetings and
gatherings. Next, they sought to have the Ten Commandment displays removed
from all Public Buildings, and the Supreme Court ruled in favor of having them
removed even though they are displayed prominently on the wall behind the
Justices as they deliberate and rule on cases brought before them. Following
this, there was a State Supreme Court Justice who was actually removed from
office because he refused to comply with an order to remove a rather large
display of the Ten Commandments from the premises of his Court House.
Now they are seeking to have the phrase "In God We Trust" removed from
our money because it violates the so called Separation of Church and State.
And I guess in addition too that they are really trying to have any and all
references to God removed from our society as well. Well folks I am here to
tell you that though they may try, it just will not happen. These crazy people
were even trying to have the Christmas Holiday name changed too further
remove any references to Christ at all. Well as for me and my family, I will
always say Merry Christ-mas.
The far left along with the ACLU are always throwing up the phrase that
thus and so "is in violation of the Separation of Church and State."
And the Supreme Court has allowed the phrase too stand thus giving the
appearance that it is in the First Ammendment of the Constitution as well.
Now, while I am by no means a Constitutional Lawyer, and I do not think
that it requires you to be one to understand it. As I read the First
Ammendment and with your indulgence interprete it, the First Ammendment
says: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of Religion,
or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech,
or of the Press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to
petition the Government for a redress of grievances. (redress means to
rule whether or not the grievances are justified or are wrong). So as I
interpret the First Ammendment the only rights that I see being violated are
yours and mine. Note: The last part of the first line says: "or prohibiting the
free exercise thereof;" what that tells me is that by taking prayer out of school
and not allowing prayer at Graduations and any other type of public gatherings
when you choose too, infringes on the rights of the many, and imparts rights to
the few. Now unless I am badly mistaken, I was under the impression that we
were governed by democratic rule in this Country, where the wishes of the
Majority prevailed over the few.
Now where the phrase that something is in violation of the Separation
of Church and State came from is a letter that Thomas Jefferson wrote to the
Danbury Baptist Association in the year 1802, in response to a letter that they
had written to him in October 1801. In Jefferson's response to them he said: I
contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people
which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an
establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; "thus
building a wall of eternal separation between Church and State." So I am sure
you can see plainly that these words by Thomas Jefferson were from
his heart, and not something he pulled out of the First Ammendment to
appease the Danbury Baptist Association. So Jefferson's statement : "thus
building a wall of eternal separation between Church and State led to the short
hand for the establishment clause that we use today; "Separation of Church
and State". And as I hope you can plainly see it is not, or was not words taken
from the First Ammendment. So the only thing that all of these rulings handed
down by the Supreme Courts of our land do is infringe on and hinder our rights
as Evangelical Christians, Baptists, Catholics, or those of the Jewish faith, to
worship the Lord God the way we feel led too, and when and where we
choose too. But I am here to tell you that will not happen in my lifetime, and I
hope not in anyone else's. I will worship my God anywhere and anytime I feel
led to do so.
I believe in my heart that this great Country of ours is moving dangerously
close to the point where God will finally lift His hand of protection that has
been over it from its inception. The people are hell-bent on doing their
own thing, that is doing what they think and feel is right as opposed to what
is right. This faction of our society wants God out of their lives completely, so
He may very soon oblige them and leave them to their wiles. But I would offer
them one word of caution, God will not be mocked! And whether they like
it or not, He will have His day. Because He always wins, Check the end of
His Book!
This Republic of ours was founded with a great Democratic Government
that has worked really great from the beginning. But it is fast moving from a
Democratic Government to a Socialist Government by the present far left
Congress that is in power, and is completely out of control. Along with a
new President and cabinet that are on a spending spree that will indenture our
children  and their children all of their lives, unless China or someone else
comes in and asks for the keys to the country. Because China for all intent
and purpose is holding the Mortgage to our country because they have
been backing our money for quite a while now and taking Treasury Notes as
collateral. But they are starting to get worried that we are spending ourselves
into oblivion and will make their Treasury Notes worthless. But President
Obama tried to reassure China that the notes they are holding are safe and
as good as gold. (The gold that we do not have to back them). The Treasury
just continues to print money that is essentially worthless, because there is
nothing to back it up. I said this in an earlier blog, that if you or I were to
print money like they are doing we would be put in jail for counterfeiting.
Now our Treasury Secretary has gone to the Congress and is asking them
to give him the authority too seize complete control of the private companies
so that the Government can tell them how to run their business as
efficiently as they are running the Government. (Give me a Break) !!!!

Government Blame Game

FamilyPictures003-1.jpg picture by heh222

I don't know the number of times that I have heard President Obama mention
that his administration inherited this Economic mess from former President Bush,
and along with it a $4 Trillion dollar national debt. Well, I don't remember
anyone twisting his arm to make him run for President, he ran because he wanted
too. So I think it would be nice to get to work and do some constructive things
that will accomplish that objective. All that we have seen up to now is a lot of
uncontrolled spending on the part of our illustrious Congress, and the President
blessing it with his signature to pass it into law. Thus going back on his promise to
the American people to do away with earmarks and usher in a new kind of
government. So much for that lie to the people. And just for the record, In
President Obama's Reign of some 50+ days he and the Congress have managed
to spend a meager $3.7 Trillion dollars. Most of the Stimulus packages were
incorporated in bills that were loaded down with ridiculous unnecessary (Pork)
projects that had no business being there in the first place. And then we here
things like one of the companies that received some of the bail out money sending
there executives to a posh California Resort at the meager cost of something like
$4000 dollars each, and CEO'S receiving millions in Golden Parachutes while
their Companies are ready to declare bankruptcy.
Now, with the latest Stimulus going out to many of those same Companies once
again, AIG tells the Government that they are giving out $165 Million in bonuses
to their people because they previously committed to do so, and their legal people
tells them they cannot get out of it. So what does our Secretary of the Treasury
say, he tells AIG to cut back on what they give out to there people. What's wrong
with this picture
? Maybe its me, but what ever happened to refusing to give them
any money in the first place, and if they already gave them the money to demand
that they return the money back to the Government.
You know, it wouldn't be the end of the world if they started letting some of these
poorly run businesses go under. It wouldn't hurt the economy much more than it
already is, and there would be more of the Stimulus money available to help those
businesses that were operating properly to recover a little faster which might in turn
help to speed up the overall Economic Recovery.
Folks, since we are forced to tighten our belts for the sake of survival, wouldn't it
be nice if the politicians in Washington would do the same (Ha! Ha!). It would be
nice if they would do something really off the wall like perhaps pass a bill in the
Congress that had no other expenditures in it except for the actual bill itself. Then
after we all recovered from our heart attacks, we could stand up and applaud
them.

Governmental Control

FamilyPictures003-1.jpg picture by heh222

After listening to the varide thoughts and observations of many different news
commentators, I have arrived at the same conclusion that only one of them came
up with. And that is, that it is not as much about the bail outs as it is about
control. Think about it, the Government has taken control of Fannie Mae and
Freddy Mac along with most of the largest Banks, and the largest Insurers
(AIG, etc.) on Wall Street.
The idea of the bail outs as I understand them was to put money into these
companies so that they could start lending once again to the small businesses, so
they could keep their companies running. And the people would start to feel a
little better about the state of the Economy and would start to spend some of
their money which would help to stimulate the Retail Businessess as well. But
a funny thing happened along the way. The Government forgot one tiny little
detail when they gave the Banks some of the stimulus money, and that was;
the banks were supposed to make the money available to the businesses
and the people in the United States. But here is where some of the Stimulus
money from the banks went:
Bank of America invested $7 Billion dollars in a China Construction Corp.
J.P. Morgan invested $1 Billion dollars over in India.
Citi Group loans $8 Billion dollars to the Country of Dubai.
This oversight on the Government's part needless to say, was an extremely costly
mistake and an additional waste of Taxpayers money, along with the Stimulus
Package that gave the Banks the money in the first place.
And so, around and around it goes where it stops nobody really knows. This
Government is spending money like it's going out of style, and you know what?
IT IS!! Every one of the Stimulus Bills that Congress passed and that President
Obama signed into law was funded by money that we do not have. But all they
did was to start up the Government Printing presses and print out some new
money. You know, there is a name for that kind of operation but it escapes me
right now (ha! ha!). The Government has been getting backing from China, but
I understand that it is getting harder and harder to come by. My guess is, that
maybe this charade will stop when China comes over here and asks for the keys
to the country.
And now Mr. Obama wants to saddle us with Universal Health care. If some
of the things that I have read about this kind of health care system is true you can
have it, I sure do not want it. It means longer waits because of limited access to
Doctor's. These waits force people to draw on welfare while they wait, which
drives up the cost of your Taxes, just to name a few. But then when you add in
that it will be run by our illustrious Government, who cannot run  themselves with
any resemblance of efficiency. The only kind of Health care that I would want to
consider would be the same type that all of the Government workers get, But
have it run by someone in the private sector and the Government not having any
kind of control over it. The Government is trying to take over every area and
aspect of our lives. Next they will be coming into our homes and telling us what
we can and cannot do there. I say enough with a government of Socialism !!!
Let's for God's Sake get back to some semblance of a Democracy where we
belong.
I think that the Congress and the President would do a whole lot better if they
would concentrate on getting this Economy straightened out first, before going
off in so many different directions. They are going off on more tangents with these
Stimulus Bills than you can shake a stick at, and along the way piling up more debt
than this Country will ever be able to pay back if it exists for another 500 years.

The Latest Saga on the State of the Economy

For the month of February, Ford Motor sales fell 48%, as the auto slump
continues. Ford, the first automaker to report sales Tuesday, said it sold
99,060 vehicles last month compared with the 192,248 it sold in February
2008. This also places further doubt on the financial viability of General
Motors Corp., and Chrysler as well, making it difficult for them to sell cars
and generate critical cash to supplement the $17.4 billion in government
loans that are keeping them in busines.
Automakers spent more on Rebates, low-interest financing and othe
incentives in an effort to bring out buyers. But, even with all of the fantastic
deals, sales continued to slump.
I cannot for the life of me believe that Washington will continue to put
money into these businesses. I cannot believe that Washington is so blind
that even they cannot see the handwriting on the wall. The people are not
going to go out and buy a car that is first of all way overpriced, even with
all of the rebates and other incentives
. People have better things to do
whatever money they might still have, like put food on the table,
and provide for their families real necessities
.Besides, they don't
know in many cases whether they will have a job tomorrow to even
provide those real necessities of life.
It is unfortunate but Washington needs to stop holding the hands of the
Automakers, and let the chips fall where they may. If they go belly-up, they
can always try to restructure the company and begin over again. This will
enable them to renegotiate the Union contracts, and everything else that
makes up the business infrastructure that may contribute to the outlandish
costs required to operate that business.
This should also apply to any other company that is being run enefficiently
and just plain wrong. A few that come to mind are, AIG, Fanny Mae, and
Freddy Mac. The Government continues to pour good money after bad,
into these poorly run companies where it is being wasted. They would do
far better to single out the businesses that are being run efficiently, but that
are running into financial binds because of the state of the economy, and
put the Stimulus money into those companies to keep them afloat.
Finally, whatever happened to President Obama's "Transparency plan
for keeping the American People in the loop so to speak, to know what
is in the bills before they are voted on and passed? (Hm! I wonder). We
see them after they are passed and approved by Mr. Obama.
Also, so
much for his plan to cut out all ear marks
. From what I can see, it
seems as though there are more ear marks than ever in the bills being put
through by this poor excuse for a Congress, along with it's illustreous
leadership her royal highness Fancy Nancy, and his lordship sir Harry.
This Congress cares about as much for the welfare of the American
people as someone like Hugo Chavez. If the truth be known, he might
care more for us.

I want to also try to add a little real humor to our lives over and above
what Washington is giving us every day !!!
